Workshop Date

Experience level: Intermediate (not suitable for beginners, not suitable for minors)

Duration: 8 hours

In this intermediate-level workshop you will work hands-on at the forge to learn the basics of tool-making using modern and traditional blacksmithing techniques. During the class you will craft your own letter opener or box cutter completely by hand and take it home with you at the end of the day. Perfect for the Forged In Fire enthusiast!

In this full day workshop we will discuss the principles of tool-making, material identification, and heat treating as you craft a larger and more complex letter opener from the material provided. In this class you will use the forge as well a variety of hand and power tools to shape and sharpen your new tool

**Please note that while this class is intended as an introduction to tool-making, it is not a beginner's level blacksmithing course and does not cover the basics of forging and shaping steel. It is highly recommended that you take our Letter Opener Workshop prior to registering (unless you have equivalent blacksmithing experience), as this workshop builds upon the skills learned in the beginners letter opener class

This Workshop requires a significant amount of hammering as well as the use of power tools to craft and shape your blade. This class is a long day and a lot of work, so be sure to come full of energy! This class takes approximately 8 hours and includes a small pizza lunch. (We also have a fridge, microwave, and kettle available for this who prefer to bring their own food)
