These unique Medieval inspired cloak pins are perfect for securing Shaws, scarves, blankets, and more! Cloak pins, (also called Tartan pins, Scarf Pins or Shawl pins, Penannular brooches, Viking brooches, or Celtic brooches) were designed to fasten and hold cloaks, Tartans, and other garments securely on the body. Today they remain in fashion as a popular choice to accentuate and fasten scarves, shawls, Tartans, costumes, sweaters, bags, and more, and are also commonly used for survival camping, bushcraft, and tactical purposes

These celtic brooches include your choice of twisted detail in the metal and come with a black iron finish, black with silver highlights, or brass-brushed for an antique golden shine

These are my original style cloak pins, they are best at holding larger, loose knit, or woven fabrics. (For finer fabrics, I also make a miniature cloak pin with a thinner needle which will not leave a large hole in tighter materials. Larger Blanket Pins are also available for large blankets and heavy duty needs). Contact us for custom requests!

Details:

  • Each brooch is forged by hand with a hammer and anvil, and crafted from 3/16" solid steel bar
  • The pin measures approximately 1/16" in diameter and made from non-tarnishing stainless steel so it will not stain or discolor fabric
  • Brooches measure approximately 2" in overall diameter
  • Choose between a black firescale color, black and silver color, or antique brass-brushed finish
  • each brooch is coated to protect the metal from rust
  • Your choice of detail in the metal: single twist, reverse twist, alternating twist, or a wavy pattern
